In 1982 the first historic rally was held ΓÇö the RACΓÇÖs Golden Jubilee, which was won by Hopkirk in his 1965 Mini Cooper ΓÇÿSΓÇÖ. Throughout the eighties The Mini Challenge flourished, bringing new racers and new records every year. In 1983 Minicross expanded into Formula 4 within Rallycross and won. Plus Terry Snowdon grabbed first place in Formula 2 with his 1600cc monster. In 1989 Minis compete in the Classic Marathon, which with over 40 hairpins, remote mountain passes and a climb of over 10,000ft becomes known as the toughest historic rally.
